What do people recommend for privacy policy + cookie banner?

I should set this up, but I feel overwhelmed by the legalities. I use google analytics and hotjar.

I think there are some good alternatives to Google Analytics like Splitbee and are more privacy focused. I’m not sure if you still need a cookie banner though. In my understanding, just having a privacy page is enough and the pop-up banner isn’t necessary.

There are paid services out there where you can just pick and choose the things you need.

Google Analytics will be changing but yes as Phillip says there are alternatives - I use Plausible for example.

I use iubenda for terms and conditions + privacy policy + cookie banner. Their tool let you select the services you use and they automatically create the documents for you.

Search inside AppSumo, sometimes there are LTD but valid only for new accounts.

For EU you need that as soon as you use GA or alikes (tracking cookie is the issue here). I always try not using any tracking (cookies) since I hate both, the privacy popup, the tracking and all the shit connected to it.

I think that GA cannot be used in Europe any more.

Using Google Analytics is illegal under GDPR.

So if you’re using Google Analytics, don’t even bother with a banner. You’re not compliant either way

Give me a few moments and I’ll publish my blog post on this subject

I use <https://www.cookiehub.com/|CookieHub >for the consent popup on http://flotrain.co|flotrain.co . Its free for what I use it for. I made the privacy & T&Cs myself from copy/pasting from some free sites and a series of other established sites! Not the best, but it’ll do for an MVP! ….interesting to know about GA, I’ll also need to look for new analytics then.

GDPR compliant analytics:

http://plausibe.io|plausibe.iohttp://usefathom.com|usefathom.com Both cost $10 a month or so. I’ve got very basic analytics functionality for free in https://blether.chat

Plausible is the one I use

Splitbee I believe isn’t compliant since their FAQ has a question for it and avoids answeringit
